July: NKF saga

NKF (National Kidney Foundation): a charitable organization that made top news by being shown to have an HUMONGOUS amount of financial reserves. It was rumoured that they have gold-plated toilet taps for their CEO. (Mr T.T.Durai, who has resigned along with the rest of the board of directors)

With a huge outcry, the public expressed their anger and frustration on various forms of media. After all, the idea is that the money that the public donated should be used solely for the benefit of the dialysis patients.

Ok, the staff who work in NKF, should be paid, but then their pay should not be excessively high. It was rumoured that there was 12 months bonus for Mr Durai. (Oh my, where in the world and when am I going to see that kind of money!)

Oh well...the NKF saga continues with the appointment of a new board of directors. The important thing is that the dialysis treatment of the patients is not disrupted during this scandal.

We are talking people's lives here...For myself, I will not terminate my monthly donation...but NKF will also never get a cent more from me in increased donations.

Talk about wealthy charitible organizations, the "peanuts" salary as described by a high-powered person...talk of a class divide in Singapore.

I just wonder what is happening to Singapore.
