November Update: LW ERPG
Just a little update...thought I will put in a tiny update of my writings on the Lone Wolf Electronic Role-Playing Game:
The countryside of Sommerlund, a few miles away from Dimlock Dell.
Kai Lords Mydnight, Kicking Bear and Grey Rat were scouting out one possible checkpoint indicated on their map. They had been riding all day and there were not much shelter along their route. Soon they arrived at their destination where a small stream bubbled on its way to the Unoram. Dismounting, the three Kai Lords took turns to slake their thirst in the cool refreshing water and let their horses drink.
Mydnight was the first to note the blackened patch of grass nearby. Upon further investigation, they found scant ashes that lay scattered around the old fireplace and the soot-blackened stones that were used to contain the fire. Grey Rat found some splotches of dried blood on the leaves of some nearby bushes. Kicking Bear discovered the decaying carcass of a rabbit nearby. Presumably, their suspected quarry had made a meal here before moving on.
Thankfully there was no rain these few days, or else there might be less things to find.
“Any more clues?” asked Kicking Bear as he and Grey Rat came back to join Mydnight.
“Nothing much.” Answered a exasperated Mydnight as he re-mounted his horse. “Could have been a wild goose’s chase, for all we know.”
The three Kai Lords crossed the stream and rode ahead onto a track that led northwards. The forest was very dense in this part of the country, and the overlapping branches and leaves formed a canopy that filtered out most of the sunlight, lending the track a cool and shadowy appearance.
“Now that’s what I call cooling!” Kicking Bear spoke out. “Beats running around the countryside
“But don’t you find that this place gives you the spooks?” Mydnight replied.
“What about moving ahead? I see some light in the distance.” Grey Rat pointed ahead where the densely forested trail came to an end.
“Let’s go.” Kicking Bear led the way.
~~~
As the trees spread out, they found themselves on a gentle slope, riding upwards. Within minutes, they found themselves on top of a small wooded hill. A copse of trees lay at the centre of the hill. However, there were a few large boulders, which stood in a semi-circle. They circled the place warily looking out for any possible dangers. For almost half a minute, the three Kai Lords could have sworn they heard faint sonorous chanting on the wind. But they pinched themselves there was no chanting, and the menhir circle was deserted, just as before.
They came back to their original positions and took a deep breath, chiding themselves for scaring each other crazy.
However, a noise behind them alerted them and all three Kai Lords spun around, weapons at the ready.
A hooded shadowy figure stood in the stone-circle, seemingly at a centre of a cloud of shadow.
